Fold Umbrella

A double umbrella stroller is not referring to the umbrella part of the stroller (which by the way has little to do with an umbrella some times) but refers to the seating available in the stroller.

First off an umbrella stroller is a portable buggy for children. The moniker comes from the shape of the handles on the stroller not that it has an umbrella attached, although sometimes it does have an umbrella attached it is not a requirement. These lightweight travel strollers fold in half length wise and have two handles that look like an umbrella handle.

These portable strollers were a god send when they first appeared in the early eighties. The big baby prams from the forties and fifties were largely replaced by folding prams in the sixties both even these smaller more portable baby buggies were still monstrous in size and made public transportation an absolute nightmare. Even folded there was no way for a parent to tote baby, baby bag and stroller.

The answer to this was the lightweight easy to fold umbrella stroller. The handles can be hung from one are much like an umbrella and they are so light weight that it is not a struggle to do so. A double umbrella stroller is of the same design but has two seating areas, for baby and an older child or for twins. These are the things that parents dream of two seats, easy to fold and easy to tote.
